Partnerships
1. Partnerships between COAHL members & Local Health Institutions/Organizations
COAHL member libraries foster strong links to local health libraries or health institutions in their area in order to “…improve health care through enhanced access to information and cooperative innovation…”.
COAHL member libraries are de facto significant parts of their related Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) of which there are six in the Province of Ontario in the cities of Hamilton, Kingston, Ottawa, London, Sudbury/Thunder Bay, and Toronto. AHSCs operate within the context of a local university and its medical or health sciences faculties. Relationships with local health libraries or health institutions may be formalized through the full or community affiliation agreements of their parent institutions, by financial agreements and/or membership in health library consortia.
COAHL member and local health library partners are listed below.
Health Sciences Library, University of Ottawa
Health Sciences Library, Northern Ontario Medical School
Bracken Health Sciences Library, Queen’s University

HSICT also includes member libraries of local public health units and the Laboratory Services, MOHLTC.
Allyn and Betty Taylor Library has relationships with libraries in both fully affiliated and community affiliated hospitals. Western Ontario health Knowledge Network (WOHKN) is a partnership between Western Libraries and fully affiliated and many of the community affiliated hospital libraries or library services which provide library services to community hospitals. Through the WOHKN partnership and other collaborative means the Library supports the distributed undergraduate and post graduate medical education provided by Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network (SWOMEN).
