COAHL member libraries are involved with the provision of library services in the distributed health care environment:
The COAHL position paper Distributed Medical Education (DME) –Library and Information Services (pdf) was developed to provide a framework for the development and delivery of library and information services in the current environment.
More information about DME is available from each of the COAHL's parent universities:
- Clerkship and residency programs and placements for nursing and allied health students are geographically widely-spread.
- Several Ontario Faculties and Schools of Medicine are extending their full undergraduate medical education programs to satellite sites.

Ontario Learning Resources for Nursing Project (PDF 7 MB)
As a result of the Ontario Learning Resources for Nursing Project (OLRN), since January 2002, Ontario colleges and universities participating in the collaborative baccalaureate nursing program have access to the same key evidence-based electronic nursing resources.

UGME
COAHL libraries are involved in the delivery of undergraduate medical education in their institutions. The LCME accreditation standards and CanMeds competencies indicate a level of informatics competencies required by the graduating physician.
COAHL members are currently gathering data in order to create a summary of the current instruction and its relationship to the relevant competencies in each school. The outcomes of the project will be used for further development of instructional programs.
